Episode Transcript
[00:00:00] Speaker A: Sam.
[00:00:23] Speaker B: Hey everybody. This is what you think it friend. And we're doing a supplemental off of the extra bits from the last podcast because it's 4:20 and we, we kept on running because Ed started on it and I said shut up, record before.
[00:00:38] Speaker A: You finish your thought.
[00:00:39] Speaker B: Yes.
Okay, Ed, you said the Internet was wrong. Go.
[00:00:43] Speaker A: The Internet was wrong. So you sent me an article a month ago.
[00:00:50] Speaker B: 100 years ago.
[00:00:50] Speaker A: Back 100 years ago. You know, million years ago.
[00:00:53] Speaker B: 420. We do what we want.
[00:00:55] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly.
[00:00:56] Speaker B: So he has risen and we're getting high. No, that's not true.
[00:01:01] Speaker A: Not, not true. Anyway, so you sent me this article about Lincoln Linkin Park. It was some music blog that truly believes that Linkin park fumbled their reunion tour. Or From Zero Tour. It wasn't technically a reunion tour, but from. From Zero Tour and because they've had to cancel a couple shows in other countries.
[00:01:26] Speaker B: Huh.
[00:01:27] Speaker A: So.
And us talking about Ted Lasso in the end of our last podcast.
[00:01:32] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:01:33] Speaker A: Got me thinking that.
So the Lincoln park tour dates in. Was it South Africa or South Brazil? I can't remember which one.
They were canceled because soccer is more important in those countries.
[00:01:48] Speaker B: Damn right.
[00:01:48] Speaker A: Because the Linkin park shows were scheduled on a day that they needed for soccer. So they're like, well, only one of these is gonna give.
And it was Linkin park shows. And the Internet was just way wrong on it. And I'm like, good.
[00:02:09] Speaker B: And you know that's trying to put. You're trying to set up a show versus a religion.
[00:02:15] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:02:16] Speaker B: And you're not gonna win against religion.
[00:02:18] Speaker A: No. And, and then in that same article, in the same breath, they were blaming Linkin park for fumbling the show in LA of they were supposed to play Dodgers Stadium. And they're like, oh, she. They can't even sell tickets because of Scientology. And I'm like, oh, stop it. Stop with the Scientology. But from anything I've seen online, it's because the Linkin park and Queens of the Stone Age, it just didn't work out for scheduling.
So it basically the show got canceled and moved to a smaller arena. And of course the Internet's like, they can't sell a 56,000 seat arena for a concert, so they had to go to one that's like 20,000.
And I'm like, you know, 20,000 still a giant concert.
[00:03:09] Speaker B: Yes, it is.
[00:03:11] Speaker A: That's.
[00:03:11] Speaker B: I.
[00:03:13] Speaker A: That's going to be a shock to both Becky's and my system when we go to the show in. In Seattle. That's almost 18,000 for that venue. So it's going to be huge.
[00:03:25] Speaker B: Yeah, that's. That's bigger than the however many caps capacity that our little rinky dinks.
[00:03:35] Speaker A: You put the Metra and the Four Seasons arena together and you might.
Might be close because they're about 8 or 9,000 a piece.
If you have the floor all set up with seats and everything on both of them, you might be close.
[00:03:55] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:03:55] Speaker A: Maybe. But yeah, it just. The Internet, it was wrong.
I know. Hard to believe.
Hard to believe.
[00:04:05] Speaker B: Hard to believe that the Internet could be wrong.
[00:04:08] Speaker A: Right.
Yeah.
[00:04:11] Speaker B: You know what this is the weird part bringing up the TED Lasso is that they. They are confirmed that they're doing a season four.
[00:04:22] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:04:23] Speaker B: Which I thought that they rushed the ending of season three.
[00:04:27] Speaker A: I see. I. I'm glad I wasn't the only one. It kind of just felt really rushed and just not as quality as the first.
What, two or three seasons? Because. Or first two seasons.
[00:04:39] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:04:39] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:04:41] Speaker B: They. They knew that their hard day date and hardline on it and so they. That last 10 minutes because they were trying to do a wrap up of everybody like all your main characters and. Or all the stories because they didn't think that they were coming back.
Oh. And it was all right.
But it was. It seemed so rushed that even the graphics wise that they put behind it.
[00:05:09] Speaker A: Was a little cheesy.
[00:05:11] Speaker B: Oh, they were not good. It was another case of somebody got paid to do this and it was an apple behind it. So it's like how the hell y' all. How.
[00:05:18] Speaker A: Right.
[00:05:19] Speaker B: How. Why?
[00:05:21] Speaker A: They kind of just mailed it in the last few episodes. It felt like it'll. It'll be interesting to see season four of TED Lasso what they do with it because rumors are pointing towards it's going to be a female soccer team.
Oh. I mean they kind of hinted towards that at the LA on the last episode. You know, spoilers if nobody's seen it. But they kind of hint towards that.
So I.
I don't know. I.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with. If they go that direction.
[00:05:55] Speaker B: Right.
But if you've been keeping up with modern stuff of like Wrexham or Welcome to Wrexham.
No, it's. Oh, it's on Hulu.
[00:06:07] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:06:08] Speaker B: But it's basically Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElvany from Always Sunny.
[00:06:13] Speaker A: Oh, okay.
[00:06:14] Speaker B: Yeah. They bought a team in Wales.
[00:06:20] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:06:21] Speaker B: That is. That was lower, lower, lower till tier.
And another spoiler. But they have been gone up the ranks and up the ranks and they're just continuing to do so and they're kicking ass and taking names and it's revived a city on top of reviving, you know, one of the oldest, if not the oldest soccer grounds. And.
[00:06:48] Speaker A: And this is an actual, like, documentary type show.
[00:06:52] Speaker B: Well, yeah, because. Because they. They actually started off.
[00:06:55] Speaker A: Oh, cool.
[00:06:55] Speaker B: Yeah, because they started it off like it was covet times of being able. Like, okay, we want to buy this team.
Then they bought. They bought the team. But they documented it all the way through and the. Documented it throughout the season.
And so. Oh, okay. The experiment worked.
[00:07:13] Speaker A: The.
[00:07:13] Speaker B: The experiment is continuing to take off and I think that they're working on season three, which is just like, hey, they're still making money for their. Their club and it's bringing more fans into Wrexham and. Or into the game himself.
[00:07:30] Speaker A: Nice.
[00:07:31] Speaker B: Which is perfect for the World cup that's coming up in the next year in the event that, you know, we don't it up right.
[00:07:39] Speaker A: Is it here?
[00:07:40] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:07:41] Speaker A: Oh, God.
[00:07:43] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:07:43] Speaker A: I.
I could see that being ugly.
[00:07:50] Speaker B: It would have been a lot uglier if. If USA didn't have an automatic spot.
[00:07:55] Speaker A: So the host country gets an automatic spot.
[00:07:57] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:07:58] Speaker A: Well, that's stupid.
[00:08:02] Speaker B: That's. That's come back bite many host countries in the ass. Well, that's.
[00:08:07] Speaker A: That's what I mean. I'm like, we'll host it, but we're not.
[00:08:09] Speaker B: No, because if you look at some of those in the past, like, you've had a cutter guitar, which, however you.
[00:08:18] Speaker A: Sure.
[00:08:19] Speaker B: However you want to spell that.
[00:08:21] Speaker A: Sure.
[00:08:22] Speaker B: Then you've had Russia, you've had South Africa.
Or no, wait, South America. No, South Africa.
[00:08:29] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah.
[00:08:31] Speaker B: Either way.
But you're. Some of those host countries have not done great.
[00:08:38] Speaker A: Interesting.
[00:08:40] Speaker B: So follow where the money goes and you'll. You'll see why.
[00:08:45] Speaker A: Yeah, interesting.
[00:08:48] Speaker B: But all the same, even I love.
Stop. Man, I love me some soccer. Right to the point. Like, you got like, Manchester United, who played against Leon on Thursday and easily w a contender of game of the year because it's.
United is up to nothing at home. Ellen at the half. Okay, great.
Leon's come back and scored another two. Oh, so it's tied.
Leon gets a hat or like, gets a red card. So they're down to 10 men, but they score two goals and it's like, oh, God, this is the end for United.
United come back, score three goals within seven minutes in an epic right at the death. Do they get it back and they win it.
[00:09:39] Speaker A: Wow.
[00:09:39] Speaker B: And then they played just about, oh, two, two and a half hours ago against the Wolves, and they sucked ass at Home. So I was like, the. The sport is fecal.
[00:09:52] Speaker A: It's much like baseball. Any team can win on any given Sunday.
[00:09:56] Speaker B: Any given day, man.
[00:09:57] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:09:58] Speaker B: But I love it. So. And I.
[00:10:00] Speaker A: So a novice to soccer. Yes. I got MLS season pass free through from T Mobile for the season. Oh, no.
So what team should I pay attention to?
What are your recommendations for mls?
[00:10:19] Speaker B: Well, if you want to keep the trend alive that we've had for all the other means where. I am a Charlotte FC fan because they are of the old country for me, but there. There are a new team.
[00:10:37] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:10:38] Speaker B: Or they are a newer team.
[00:10:39] Speaker A: Sure.
[00:10:40] Speaker B: If you're looking based off of stars, you would go Miami, because I can't.
[00:10:46] Speaker A: Root for any team in Florida.
[00:10:48] Speaker B: So we're gonna thank you.
[00:10:49] Speaker A: Ax that one.
[00:10:51] Speaker B: You do have Atlanta that you could be still cheering for. And then we could still have our rival. Oh, rivalries, Rivalries.
[00:10:59] Speaker A: Sure, sure.
[00:11:00] Speaker B: If you want to shop local, you can do Seattle, right? Seattle. Seattle Sounders is a fun club.
[00:11:08] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:11:08] Speaker B: Portland Timbers is their rival and they have one of the best rivalries in the usa, no matter the sport. I think that's one of the funnest back and forths that you can have.
[00:11:21] Speaker A: Well, because they're only like two hours apart, two hours away from one another. They're basically when.
[00:11:27] Speaker B: When Carolina teams face off against Atlanta teams, it's the.
Was it I87?
[00:11:33] Speaker A: Yeah, something like that.
[00:11:35] Speaker B: Something like that. Yeah. So, yeah, there's.
[00:11:38] Speaker A: There's.
[00:11:38] Speaker B: There's good rivalries to be had. I'm. And it's funny because I was a Sounders fan and they have since.
Since they have came back in mls.
They've won.
They've won the cup. They've won the Champions League of concacaf, which is the South America and North America teams.
[00:12:01] Speaker A: Oh, okay.
[00:12:03] Speaker B: They've. They've won it.
And after they won the champions, that was where I was like, okay, I can successfully move on from this team now.
Like, sure. I've seen it and I've cheered for it just because it was the local.
[00:12:17] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:12:18] Speaker B: Now I can move on to a new aspiring team, and I hope that they do well.
[00:12:22] Speaker A: Is Atlanta as dismal in soccer as they are in baseball?
[00:12:26] Speaker B: No, they've. They've won the Cup.
[00:12:28] Speaker A: Did they?
[00:12:29] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:12:30] Speaker A: So they gotta move again to win another one. That's just how. That's how Atlanta teams. That's how it works. You win one, then you gotta move to win another one. That's just. That's how it works.
[00:12:41] Speaker B: I. I was. I was trying to think of who Atlanta had. That would be the equivalent of Freddie Freeman. And it's not coming to me just because I don't watch them.
[00:12:50] Speaker A: So what you're saying is LA is gonna steal them.
[00:12:54] Speaker B: Which one? Yes, absolutely.
Because you got. You got 100 LA teams. No, it's not true. That's. I think you got three.
[00:13:03] Speaker A: That's still too many, I think.
[00:13:07] Speaker B: Hold on now. You're gonna make it.
[00:13:10] Speaker A: No, I'm gonna make you look.
[00:13:12] Speaker B: Yeah, well, I.
Some. Because they had shivas and they've. They have sent away Gonda with the dodo.
But not if you're in South America or Mexico, because Shiv SFC is absolutely awesome.
Okay, you have LA Galaxy and then you have LAFC, which is LA football club.
[00:13:42] Speaker A: I was going to say the FC's got to stand for something because it's the football club.
[00:13:48] Speaker B: And then you have San Jose.
[00:13:50] Speaker A: San Jose.
[00:13:52] Speaker B: Yeah. So there's your three.
Wow, that was more accurate than I thought it was.
[00:14:00] Speaker A: You were right on three teams. Three for three.
I got it for free and I haven't watched anything yet because I don't know what team to follow. I was honestly thinking of, you know, sticking with Atlanta as well.
Yeah, why not?
[00:14:16] Speaker B: I mean, all your other team bases are off of that.
[00:14:20] Speaker A: Literally. My other team is based.
[00:14:23] Speaker B: Yeah, well, you know, because I see you cheering for the Falcons, but I think you just do that to piss me off.
[00:14:28] Speaker A: I do, I do. That's the only reason I cheer for the Falcons because honestly, I could give a less about football.
[00:14:35] Speaker B: And you know what? I'm gonna point this out to you.
Specifically you. I gave you the perfect T ball of a, Of a. Of an out.
Earlier today, I asked you what your.
Your most hated team was and I thought you were gonna go just T ball that one out of the park and just say Phillies just to piss me off.
[00:14:59] Speaker A: No, no, I don't. I don't actually hate the Phillies. Yeah, their fan base I hate, but that's.
[00:15:05] Speaker B: That's natural.
[00:15:07] Speaker A: Although their fan base hates everybody, including the Phillies.
[00:15:10] Speaker B: Dude.
[00:15:13] Speaker A: I loved it when the Phillies. What was it last season, the Phillies Braves opened up the season together playing against one another and literally Zach Wheeler, I think he was the opening day starter and a couple pitches were literally an inch or two off the plate. And Phillies fans online were like, oh, the season's over. And I'm like, my God, really?
[00:15:35] Speaker B: I just had this conversation yesterday with my mom and she. I was like, hey, the Phillies one. And she's like, closer. Can't God get his head Straight. God damn it. And I'm like, whoa. He's like, I didn't see the timeline because I guess that as soon as that homeboy came up and just like, oh, it was like 11 to 10. Jesus. That's why I was like, these 21 score games, how the hell is this happening?
[00:16:03] Speaker A: Right?
[00:16:04] Speaker B: And then he's like, he dropped off eight runs. You almost blew it. God damn. I mean, this is the same kind of. I'm used to the antics of like, God damn it, Schwarbert, get your head in the game.
[00:16:16] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:16:17] Speaker B: So it's like I can feel it in my soul.
[00:16:21] Speaker A: I. I just. I don't know. I. Phillies fans are so moody. That's the only way to put it.
[00:16:30] Speaker B: East coast, man. That's all I gotta say.
[00:16:33] Speaker A: It's amazing to me. I. I loved when the Braves play the Phillies. I actually like switching to the Phillies feed for the. The after, like the post game.
[00:16:44] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:16:44] Speaker A: Because they're so melodramatic about everything.
It is ridiculous.
[00:16:51] Speaker B: There. I will say, listening to either soccer or baseball through radio.
[00:16:59] Speaker A: Huh?
[00:17:00] Speaker B: Is.
Is an. Is it old timey classic Joy.
[00:17:05] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:17:06] Speaker B: That you could be at work, you could still be getting stuff done. And.
And you get the antics, but you also get the, like, the little digs.
[00:17:16] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:17:16] Speaker B: At the other teams.
[00:17:17] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:17:19] Speaker B: It's like, oh, and this convict's up to bat. I was like, okay, didn't know. Didn't know it was that deep. But here we are.
[00:17:27] Speaker A: Here we are. Well, there are some players that have gotten in trouble with the Johnny Law.
[00:17:35] Speaker B: Who has years in comparison to the 90s where it's like, hey, Skip, can you. Can you pass that bucket of chicken? And having a heater.
[00:17:43] Speaker A: Hey, once you're done with that, will you. Will you pass me the needle so I can get all jacked up? You know?
[00:17:48] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly.
[00:17:49] Speaker A: Yeah.
Yeah. The KFC with a little ped.
[00:17:54] Speaker B: You know, I laugh about it because the PED era kind of saved baseball.
[00:18:01] Speaker A: It really did. That's the ironic part of it.
[00:18:04] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:18:05] Speaker A: Because really, there was something wholesome about, like, the PED era with Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa.
[00:18:13] Speaker B: Yeah. It did bring fans back in the seats.
[00:18:16] Speaker A: And then Barry Bonds went and wrecked.
[00:18:17] Speaker B: It because, I mean, there was domination. I mean, NFL's always kind of run the show, but when you have Michael Jordan for basketball, it was like, okay, how the hell are we gonna adapt? So.
[00:18:33] Speaker A: Right. And then you had the biggest, like, most ridiculous thing in the 90s when Jordan quit baseball to go try his hand at. Or quit basketball to go try his hand at baseball.
[00:18:44] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:18:45] Speaker A: Yeah, that was. That was something.
[00:18:48] Speaker B: Yeah, that.
[00:18:49] Speaker A: That was literally a marketing ploy if I ever saw one.
[00:18:53] Speaker B: I mean, g. You could see that he was doing. He was doing okay.
[00:18:59] Speaker A: He was solidly average.
[00:19:01] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:19:02] Speaker A: He wasn't good. He wasn't bad.
[00:19:04] Speaker B: Just being a natural athlete. He was.
[00:19:06] Speaker A: Yeah. Solidly average.
[00:19:08] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:19:09] Speaker A: I think if he would have given it more time, he. He could have been in that he's a good player category. I don't think he would have ever excelled, but I think he would have. Could have been a good player.
[00:19:20] Speaker B: I think he could have made it to the league.
[00:19:22] Speaker A: Yeah, I think so.
[00:19:24] Speaker B: With enough time.
[00:19:25] Speaker A: Well, he. Yeah, exactly, with enough time, but they just didn't. He didn't put that much time or effort into it.
[00:19:32] Speaker B: It almost makes me think what. How many more championships he would have won if he would have stayed, though.
[00:19:39] Speaker A: Yeah, I. I wondered that too, but I.
Yeah, just one of those odd, Odd ones that you never know.
[00:19:46] Speaker B: Well, I think it's time for this. This podcast to relegate. So this has been what you think it. Friend. I'm Cody Lindaberry.
[00:19:54] Speaker A: And I'm Ed Worl.
Thanks for listening.
[00:19:57] Speaker B: Than. Thanks for listening. Have a good day.
